Why do we classify accounts as dormant? It’s actually for fraud protection. If an account doesn’t have activity, it’s more likely to be checked less frequently. This makes the account an easier target for thieves. When you want to re-activate a dormant account, we go through a few extra steps to make sure the account is secure and we have your up-to-date contact information.
Want to make sure your account doesn’t become dormant again? Here are a few helpful tips:
- You can keep your account active with withdrawals or deposits at least once per year. Don’t forget about
- Consider setting up a direct deposit. Whether you choose to deposit all or a portion of your paycheck, it’s easy to save more and reach goals when you have automatically put money aside.
- Have another account or are listed as a joint owner at FFCU? You can link accounts you are owners of to make automatic transfers using online banking. This is particularly popular for youth accounts when the custodian also has a membership of their own. Keep youth accounts from becoming dormant by requesting that we link the accounts and then use the the ‘Pay and Transfer’ option in online or mobile banking to set up one-time or automatic transfers.
